ANNE PLAMONDON

RUBBERBAND MEHOD

FRI 11 OCTOBER, 2024 11am

Anne Plamondon’s masterclass unfolded as a generous and immersive space, drawing a strong and engaged group of dancers into a shared practice of presence, precision, and trust.

Grounded in the principles of the RUBBERBAND Method, the workshop guided participants through an exploration of breath, intention, and the relationship between body and floor. Choreographic phrases emerged alongside moments of improvisation and dynamic partnering, where structure and instinct were held in careful balance.

Anne’s facilitation created a space that was both rigorous and supportive, encouraging dancers to extend their physical and creative boundaries while remaining attuned to the subtleties of their own movement. The body was approached not only as a technical instrument, but as a site of resilience, capable of articulating complex emotional and physical states.

Her international experience and depth of practice were evident in the clarity and generosity of her teaching, offering participants in Aotearoa direct access to a globally recognised movement language. The workshop strengthened connections between local practitioners and international methodologies, contributing to a wider sense of exchange and growth within the dance community.

Supported by Wellesley Studios, the masterclass affirmed the value of creating spaces where artists can gather, refine, and evolve their practice together.

DALISA PIGRAM

MARRUgEKU

FRI 18 OCTOBER, 2024 11am

The masterclass led by Dalisa Pigram unfolded as a deeply engaged and well-attended gathering, drawing dancers, movers, and theatre practitioners into a shared space of enquiry and exchange.

Grounded in Marrugeku’s devising methodologies, the workshop invited participants to draw from their own personal and cultural lineages, exploring how movement can carry story, memory, and identity. Through layered improvisation and structured experimentation, participants moved between character, form, and influence, shaping material that reflected both individual voice and collective resonance.

Dalisa’s presence brought a depth of lived knowledge, shaped through decades of practice as a performer, choreographer, and cultural leader. Her approach opened a space where Indigenous knowledge systems and contemporary movement practices met, offering participants a way to engage with dance not only as technique, but as a living language.

The workshop reflected the wider kaupapa of Marrugeku, where intercultural exchange, collaboration, and storytelling are central. It also affirmed the appetite within Aotearoa’s dance community to learn from international artists of calibre, strengthening connections across oceans and deepening the field through shared practice.

Supported by Wellesley Studios, the masterclass contributed to a growing sense of community, where artists gathered not only to learn, but to listen, to test, and to move together in ways that extended beyond the studio.
