Contemporary dancers and community performers activate the city through movement, costume and sculptural headpieces, inspired by the new public artwork BTM 도깨비 (DoGGeBi) by Sunghwan Park.

Myers Park becomes a connective thread between streets, theatre spaces and communities, while Karangahape Road provides a backdrop of diversity, creativity and artistic expression.

In Korean folklore, DoGGeBi (goblins) are mischievous, shapeshifting nature spirits born from old, everyday objects who interact with humans in a playful, mischievous way.

Follow the performers as familiar surroundings become an unfolding landscape of DoGGeBi characters embodying ephemeral worlds! 

The Fitting In series is an ongoing investigation into site-specific performance as an accessible mode of creation. Developed within tight timeframes and resources, the work uses these limitations as a creative framework, encouraging improvisation, collaboration and responsiveness to place. Each new iteration traces connections between people, performance and the urban landscape, inviting audiences to experience the city from a new perspective.
